A Story of a young Kuwaiti in Dubai.

Born in 1992 in Kuwait City, Fahad found Kuwait a beautiful country to live in, but always wanted more in life, somewhere new with bigger opportunities for him, so he anticipated the unfamiliar until the age of eighteen where he was able to move from Kuwait to Dubai.

Although Fahad plans to move back to Kuwait after graduation to benefit his own country, for now he considers Dubai’s international city his home, where he meets people from all over the world in one place.

He says that living in international city has taught him many more new skills, and that he met new people everyday for the past three years and practiced his public speaking skills and communication skills with many foreign people from all around the world, he particularly likes close access to cafes and restaurants around international city.

His love for writing and public speaking started back when he moved to Dubai in 2010, A student on a scholarship from the Kuwait’s ministry of higher education to study Integrated Strategic Communication in Zayed University, he started immersing himself in topics of his particular interest, like music and pop culture.

When asked about his career aspirations, he mentions wanting to join the police force, because the police force have the best paying jobs in kuwait and he values the worth of education and money, he would also like to possess a high rank and an authoritative position in a legal entity and maybe continue his masters in law and diplomacy.

In addressing his interests and hobbies, Alshayji speaks of the movies he recently watched.

Broken City,  and comments that he did not like it too much because of the politics involved, and that he is more into action and adventure movies and biopics. In particular he mentions The Last Stand, a film he also recently watched that he liked  because of the action oriented elements,  he was also astonished by the performance of the actors, cars and the production details in filming the movie.

Alshayji says, currently I am obsessed with some english songs, Rihanna’s Diamonds and Turn Up The Love by the Far East Movement, and Hall of Fame byThe Script are the ones I can not get of my mind and they are almost playing on iTunes none stop, the lyrics move me and put me on a state of transcend, although I normally do not like listening to love / pop music.

His favourite newspaper, is the gulf news because it covers everything and it has separate sections and tabloids that cover all aspects of life, including his favourite, the sports section. He also says, I never read books, I think its boring and a waste of time,  and that he would rather watch a movie.

When discussing financials Fahad speaks out with integrity and honesty and says, It is hard being an international student in Dubai as it is a very expensive city, and keeping up with an average Arab Kuwaiti lifestyle is somehow difficult, He also compares his life in Kuwait to Dubai and says It is different when you have someone to cook for you and wash your clothes and tidy up you’re bedroom while you’re gone, but here I need to do all the household shores on my own, including washing the dishes which is unbelievably hard, trust me.

Fahad also speaks with honesty saying, If I had 5000 dirhams I would use it to fix an annoying sound I hear in my car whenever I drive it, I think it is the diffraction in the back that is damaged, and causes an annoying squeaking noise that distracts me while driving, However, I inflicted this on my own by doing illegal driving activity around Dubai that I would not like to elaborate on to protect myself from self-incrimination.
